Phanteks unveiled its new flagship chassis, the Enthoo Elite. Other modern connectivity includes two USB 3.1 ports (one each of type-A and type-C), two gigabit Ethernet connections (one driven by Intel I219V and another by Intel I210-AT), HD audio, and four other USB 3.0 ports. Besides the 32 Gb/s M.2 slot, storage connectivity includes six SATA 6 Gb/s ports. The designers lavishly spent its remaining lane budget on two PCI-Express 3.0 x4 slots, and a 32 Gb/s M.2-22110 slot.
The topmost slot runs at x16 full-time, while the middle and bottom slots are x8/x8 when both are populated (x16/NC/x16 or x16/x8/x8). The new CZ170-OCE from the traditionally server/workstation motherboard maker is based on Intel Z170 Express chipset, and features a PCI-Express gen 3.0 x48 bridge chip (likely the PLX PEX-8747), which takes the PCI-Express 3.0 x16 PEG port from the CPU, and puts out 32 lanes, which are wired to the board's three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots. Supermicro launched the first socket LGA1151 motherboard featuring a PCIe bridge chip that expands the board's lane budget, something that not even the $600 ASUS Maximus VIII Extreme features. The price-per-core dramatically shoots up from here, as we get to the Core i7-6950X Extreme Edition, the jewel in Intel's crown, featuring ten cores, 25 MB of 元 cache, 3.00 GHz clocks with 3.50 GHz Turbo Boost, and a wallet-scorching $1,723 price. Further up the lineup is the Core i7-6900K, with eight cores, 20 MB 元 cache, 3.20 GHz clocks with 3.70 GHz maximum Turbo Boost, and a price of $1,089.

Next up, is the Core i7-6850K, which is also a six-core chip with 15 MB 元 cache, but features slightly higher clock speeds of 3.60 GHz with 3.80 Turbo Boost, but more importantly, features the full 40 PCI-Express lanes of the silicon. This six-core chip features 15 MB of 元 cache, 3.40 GHz clocks with 3.60 GHz Turbo Boost, 28 PCI-Express lanes, and a price of US $434. The lineup begins with the Core i7-6800K. Intel is launching not three but four SKUs, including two six-core, one eight-core, and one ten-core. At the heart of the lineup is the 14 nm "Broadwell-E" silicon. Built in the socket LGA2011v3 package, these chips work with motherboards based on the Intel X99 Express chipset, some boards may require BIOS updates to support these chips. Intel today announced the Core i7 "Broadwell-E" processor series.
